Homes and jobs masterplan for Bolton and Bury opened up to scrutiny
AN eight-week consultation is now underway for people in Bolton and Bury to respond to an environmental masterplan.
Residents, firms and other interested parties have until October 3 to have their say on the Places for Everyone plan.
The document supersedes the Greater Manchester Spatial Framework and details how land will be allocated for homes and employment for nine of the 10 GM boroughs.
Supporters say the plan will "maximise the use of brownfield land and urban spaces while at the same time protecting green belt land from the risk of unplanned development".
But opponents from both boroughs claim large swathes of the countryside will be lost unnecessarily if the policy wins final approval.
Once the public consultation is over, the masterplan will be submitted to Communities Secretary Robert Jenrick next January.
